From our Pastor's Desk - Welcome! We are glad you have stopped by. First Presbyterian Church, Shenandoah, Iowa, is a warm, friendly, caring family of faith. We believe the key to a wholesome life is relationships. A grace-full, loving shared life with God in the Way of Jesus Christ leads us to a grace-full, loving shared life with one another. We are a diverse congregation with an open door. We share laughter, hope, prayer, needs, learning, and a commitment to growing into the people God intends us to be. We are given a great love. We understand the importance of sharing that love in action with the community around us, and the world. We would love to have you visit in person.

First Presbyterian Church of
Shenandoah was organized in 1871, and a white frame structure was built
on the present site in 1884. The existing building, designed by architects
from Pennsylvania noted for Presbyterian churches, was completed in 1917.
The organ was purchased in 1921, and was rebuilt in 1961. The educational
wing was constructed in 1958. The church's 100th Anniversary was
celebrated on June 6, 1971.
Organ Restoration - Work to restore the church organ to it's original beautiful condition is ongoing and, thanks to generous member support, is anticipated to be completed in 2003.
- A strategic plan to make the Church more accessible to those who
may find it physically difficult to attend worship and other church functions
was developed and approved, and the installation of a lift should begin
8:00 AM to 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday
